The next meeting of the CCCBA will be Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 12:00 noon at the Classic on Noble.  Our own Wilford Lane will be speaking regarding the new Landlord/Tenant Act.  This program has been approved for 1 CLE hour.  This program is free to members of the CCCBA.  Non-members may attend at a cost of $20.00 per person.  You must reserve a seat one day prior to the seminar by calling 256-237-8815.  If you are unsure of your membership status, or wish to join the CCCBA, please contact Shelly Hunt at 256-235-2240.

New officers have been elected for the 2007-2008 year.  They are as follows:

Mission Statement

The Calhoun-Cleburne County Bar Association is a voluntary association of lawyers and judges in Calhoun and Cleburne County, Alabama and has been in existence since the 1940's and was incorporated on July 9, 1985.

The Calhoun-Cleburne County Bar Association is dedicated to promoting professionalism among its active members and honorary members in the legal community in Calhoun County, Cleburne County and the State of Alabama. Our collective mission is to advance the expectation of the highest standards of ethical conduct, professional courtesy, civility, competency, integrity, morality, honor, dignity and mutuality of respect among the members of the legal community of Calhoun County and Cleburne County through sponsoring continuing legal education and cultivating social interactions among the bench and bar and among the bar and the general public.

The ultimate goals of the Calhoun-Cleburne County Bar Association are:

· The improvement of the administration of justice in Calhoun County, Cleburne County and the State of Alabama;

· The increase of public awareness and appreciation for the legal profession;

· The enhancement of services to our members for their professional growth and development;

· To protect our collective professional reputation; and

· To encourage fellowship and fraternity among our distinguished members.

We highly resolve to achieve these stated goals because we acknowledge the vital importance of the legal profession in a free society. Only by demanding the highest professional standards for ourselves do we succeed in elevating the legal profession to the highest esteem in the confidence of the general public who depend on us to defend their rights inside and outside the courtroom. Because we are stewards with this great responsibility...we are cognizant of the absolute truth that we cannot falter in our endeavor to constantly improve the legal profession and the professional members duly sworn to preserve it.
